As we engage in a national discussion about gender, bathrooms, and self-identity provoked by North Carolina’s legislature, we must take care in our debates to avoid confusing gender with sexual preference. The LGBT movement, in including the transgendered under its rainbow tent, has unintentionally muddied those waters. That makes issues like bathrooms more complex than necessary and far more uncomfortable for conservatives.
Let’s unravel this hairball. Let’s make remove the issue of sexual preference and simply approach it as a gender matter.
