Legislation vs. Choice

I am against outlawing foie gras or veal on principle. At the same time, I refuse to eat them and won’t eat at restaurants that serve them. Let animal rights activists and their opponents battle for the hearts and minds of the people on this issue, not the votes of our legislators.

Lobbying is no substitute for public debate. It is time we stopped accepting it as such.
