Denial is Not Just a River in Egypt

On Wednesday night, Jon Stewart made a gentle jibe at Nancy Pelosi’s rather partisan and sanctimonious contention that money only undermines the Republican Party: no Democrat would allow money to affect his decisions.

Stewart then went on to note that, by all appearances, President Obama’s nominees for Ambassadorship to Norway, Iceland, and Argentina were qualified solely by virtue of the fact that they were major contributors to Obama campaigns, and that the new ambassador to China was picked to repay a political favor.

The subtle corruption that wracks American politics knows no party lines. Any elected official who contends otherwise is only contributing to the problem.
