The electoral process in the United States has been hijacked by personalities, by special interests, and by non-issues like the social agenda. It is time to reclaim the process, and we must begin with the people we put forth to serve.
Our nation needs citizen leaders, not careerists. The suggestion that the lack of experience makes short-timers in government vulnerable to the wiles of special interests is valid, but it is not unique. Is it true that the longer you are in Washington, the less you work with special interest? Hardly. At least with Citizen Leaders – and campaign finance reform – you make the job of the lobbyists that much more difficult.
